My youngest niece is into art in a big way, and I wanted to buy art stuff for her birthday, but she just told me that she bought this drawing tablet that hooks into her computer, which allows her to draw on the tablet, and the image goes into her computer, where she can manipulate it even further. It's an amazing product, and it will teach her more than just how to draw on a digital tablet. She just got into junior high, so she will be able to apply the computer skills she learns with this art tablet to other applications, as well.

I may still buy art stuff for her, though, because there is nothing like being able to select the paper you want, the colors and the texture, and the dimensions of the art project. She is into animals in a big way, and most of her drawings are of different animals in their habitats, so maybe I could buy art stuff for her that she could incorporate into actual pen and paper drawings of these scenes she likes, like natural wool yarns from different types of fur bearing animals.
